REGULATIONS

Thermal Risks- Norm UNE EN 407:2005

In order to ensure a lasting protection against the heat and fire, the gloves must provide at least:

Level Abrasion (Nº of cycles) Tear Resistance (N)
1 100 10

Regarding the termal protection, the gloves must fulfill one essay or another depending on the planned usage:

Flame behaviour: the gloves which have undergone this essay: if they melt, they must not drip nor present any sign of fusion and the sewings must not open after an exposition of 15s of test. They are classified:

Level After-burn time After-glow time
1 20s not required
2 10s 120s
3 3s 25s
4 2s 5s

Contact heat: the glove’s material is exposed to temperatures between +100°C and +500°C and it is determined the time in which the inner temperature of the glove increases. Contact heat is classified according to:

Level Contact Temperature(ºC) Threshold time(s)
1 100 > 15
2 250 > 15
3 350 > 15
4 500 > 15

Convective heat:  the philosophy is the same as in the before menitioned case but , the amount of time is measured for the heat from a gas flame (80Kw/kvm) to increase the temperature of the glove’s inside material by 24°C.

Level Index of heat transfer HTI
1 > 4s
2 > 7s
3 > 10s
4 > 18s

Radiant Heat: in this case, in this case, the glove’s material is stretched in front of a heat source with an effect of 20-40 kw/kvm.

Level Transfer index t24
1 > 7s
2 > 20s
3 > 50s
4 > 95s

Small splashes of molten metal : the test is based on the total number of drops of molten metal required to increase the temperature by 40°C between the inside of the glove and the skin. It just can beover Level 1 ifa level 3 or 4 has been obtained in the flame behaviour.

Level Nº of drops
1 > 10
2 > 15
3 > 25
4 > 35

Large splashes of melted metal : Meleted iron is poured over a PVC film which simulates skin. The total number of grams is measured of how much molten metal is required to damage the simulated skin.Any test tube can catch fire nor become perforated. Any drop can keep adhered to the test tube.

Level Melted Iron (g)
1 30
2 60
3 120
4 200
