Certification Categories of the Personal Protection Equipments.
According to the European Normative 89/686/CEE of comercialization of Personal Protection Equipments, there are 3 main categories taking into account the risks and their consequences:
Category I.
Simple design against minimal mechanical risks whose effects can be perceived on time and without risk for the user.It is not necessary to submit them to CE tests ,the manufacturers�themselves can make the certification. �Marking: name, brand or logo of the manufacturer or his authorized agent, style, size and CE. Ex:�gardener gloves, protection gloves against diluted detergent solutions.
Category II.
Intemediate design. They dont have the same conditions as the before mentioned Categotry and they are not designed in the same way or for the same kind of risks that Category III. They have to be certified by a Notified Body. Marking: name, brand or logo of the manufacturer or his authorized agent, style, size and �CE + pictogram(s) and ponderation levels of the specific Norms. Ex: gloves against mechanical risks..
Category III.
Complex design. They give a limited in time protection against chemichal agressions or ionizating radiations; intervention equipment in hot environments (the same or more then 100 ºC) or in cold environments (the same or less than -50 ºC) and equipments conveived to protect against electrical risks. They are certified by a Notified Body and their manufacturing must be submited to the adoption of the own manufacturer to a quality guarantee system CE.Marking: name, brand or logo of the manufacturer or his authorized agent, style, size and CE + pictogram(s) and ponderation levels of the specific Norms + the number of the Notified Body which carries out the quality controls. Ex: firefighting gloves.
